I love hardy hen and chicks! They grow in front of my wife’s shop and withstand the trampling of careless feet and survive in a cloud of traffic smog that kills most other plants.
Cleaveland Pear trees have a more uniform and columnar shape than Bradford Pears, and, in my opinion, more beautiful blossoms.

I love how the bright color pops against the snow. You could achieve a similar effect of year round color by painting a favorite garden accessory, like a bench or a bird bath, a bright and cheery color.
